Feeling the Love

Strawberry Half Still Life,  Oil on 4"x6" Linen Panel
Roses in Bottle Still Life,  Oil on 6"x6" Linen Panel
My French Country Home,  Oil on 5"x6" Linen Panel

This tiny group is all over the place in style, but they are reflections of my current mood towards the current time.

I am still working on the landscape, which is from a photo taken by Sharon, from My French Country Home.

  1. Lovely collection of paintings and clearly all your style!

  2. Susan,
    Thank you.
I feel my work is still all over the place. I keep trying out different things, most that inspire me in other's work. For a while there, I wanted my work to have large areas of colors/values (like the work of Carol Maine), but I have discovered in the past year that I keep going to a larger varied in values. I am still learning that although, I appreciate certain techniques in other's, they may not be "right" for my work. Have a wonderful day. Carolina E.

  3. Carolina! I LOVE this painting!!! But it looks like its not for sale. Do you have any open field photos with trees? Your work is STUNNING and I'd LOVE to have it in my home! :)

  4. Trisha,

Thank you so very much for you lovely compliments. I am working on two more landscapes and will be done with them next week. If you like, I can e-mail you when they are complete.
    Have a wonderful day.

  5. Hi Carolina
The painting arrived safely and I love it, thank you so much! I posted about it today, but neither your picture nor mine do justice to your painting.

  6. Just stopped by to see your work. How very generous of you to gift Sharon with such a beautiful painting. You do wonderful work.

  7. Thank you Madonna. Sharon, I am honored that you posted that painting, and so very glad that you are pleased with your new painting. Have a lovely evening. Carolina

Labor of Love

Sunflowers in Cobalt Blue Vase,   Oil on 5 "x7"   Linen Panel SOLD  Private Collection in San Saba, TX First, I must say that everything I paint is because I absolutely love. I don't like to paint things that I don't find to be attractive to me for one reason or another. Sometimes it's sentimental reasons and other times it's as simple as beautiful colors or the texture. Either way, it's something that I want to capture and stare at for long periods of time. I want to study it and how it affects the environment around it, as in the case of Sunflowers in Cobalt Blue Vase does. In that respect, I feel ALL my paintings are a labor of love.  More often than not, I have to create a painting, wipe it all down, and start all over again if something is just not working. Some never get completed and I just end up painting something totally different on that panel. Then there are some, that I just have to paint, no matter how much trouble they are giving

Roses, Chickens, and Bees

Thank you for the happy e-mails, the wonderful advice and sharing of resources, and your kindness and support all around. I've found that simplifying my life can be complicated and messy at first, but I am getting into the swing of things and finding my way around raising chickens, keeping bees, organic gardening and teaching art. During winter break, I started my coop plans--all the things coops had to have and the best way to build it so that that it would not be something my neighbors would mind seeing as they step outside their houses. I must add that I have the BEST neighbors in the world. I bought chickens in March and by April, they were ready to be outside of the broode
