Jean-Baptiste-Siméon Chardin and Me

Still Life with Pear and Ceramic Jug ,   Oil on 4 "x 6"   Linen Panel sold  I have admired and so loved the quietness of Chardin's work for years. These gloriously timeless works have inspired my latest paintings. The one above being the first completed. I am excited about what he has taught me through the brush strokes he left on his canvas. The jug in the painting, I found during my Christmas visit to San Antonio. One of my sisters, spoiled me by taking me to the cutest antique shop I have ever entered and gifted me a gorgeous antique glass vase and a beautiful enamel container, both of which I can't wait to include in still lifes.

In and Out of Focus

Still Life with Pomegranate and Figs ,   Oil on 4 "x6"   Linen Panel sold  On these paintings, I tried hard to focus mostly on the use of blurred lines versus clean lines. My aesthetic lies mostly on clean lines, but I realize and appreciate that without those soft edges, the painting appears too plastic. Still Life with Peonies ,   Oil on 5 "x7"   Linen Panel sold

What Wonderful, Glorious Luck!

Still Life with Pear, Grapes and Ribbon ,   Oil on   6 "x6"   Linen Panel SOLD      I still have not had the time to take a painting class. There just always seems to be something going with the family or work when a workshop that interests me comes up. This was the case when I received an e-mail from the talented Leslie Lienau from the Conservatory for Classical Art  regarding a workshop that was to be taught by Kelli Folsom .      After a couple of weeks of moping about missing out on her workshop, I received another e-mail. This time from the Edmond Art Association letting me know that Kelli would be demonstrating some of her oil painting techniques at our next members meeting. It was a fabulous demonstration in which Kelli was informative, entertaining and very inspirational. I learned a great deal in a little amount of time and am so very grateful for it.  Still Life with Figs and  Eucal...
