So, Sheridan (remember, the owner of A Jeweler's Art Gallery) called me and let me know she was sold out of my enameled earrings. Cool, huh?! So it was time to crank up the kiln and get that torch lit. It was lots of work, and I had to put the oil paints up for a few days, but I had lots of fun. I always enjoy using my powertools. Almost all the earrings are reversible, so you get two pairs in one. I try to use black enamel on several. Oh, I endulged myself with a necklace, as seen on the photo, and a couple of pairs of earrings (Not shown. I forgot to photograph them.)

Well, I had leftover pieces of linen panel and this week I did a couple of paintings on them; the one of the bowl and the one of the plum above. I had so much fun that I cut a larger linen panel into smaller pieces to do more mini- miniature paintings. It is a blast and feels so-not-stressful. I also worked on a few larger pieces that are considered miniature to many artists, but to me they are pretty large. One is that of the flowers, which I finished with the help of artists friends like Carla Anglada , Tracey Harris, and Juan Jr. Ramirez, who were so gracious to give me advice on painting white flowers. You can now view my paintings at A Date with Iris . Andrea McMillan told me about this beautifully charming little flower shop on Western Ave. I went and fell in love. You can find gifts (including oil paintings by me) and the most exquisite flowers you've ever seen. My jewelry is found at A Jeweler's Art in the Paseo Art's District. As part of the Edmond Art Association, I've participated in my first juried art show. It has been fun. I had the honor of showing work with some experienced and very talented artists. Still, I really don't know how, but I received Honorable Mention. How cool is that?! You can see the work of about 30 artists throughout Oklahoma at the Edmond Metropolitan Library the entire month of June. I had in my mind to make some new items for my Etsy shop. I put the materials aside, but they kept "calling" to me. So I decided, while I took a break from sewing and painting, to make some jewelry. I have been having fun, but I think tonight, I will try to get some sleep. Oh, and my sister was here visiting from SanAntonio with our favorite athlete (Sammy, number 3; scratch that, age 3). We had fun visiting a few antique shops in Bethany, Oklahoma and found lots of great items. I am looking for brouches for the damas (the girls that accompany the Quinceañera during the ceremony, kind of like the maids-of-honor during a wedding). I AM SORRY. I have been busy making lovely jewelry. I have a few other things to make and post everything on Etsy tomorrow. I hope you come and visit. I will work at creating art that will bring beauty to every body and home. I have taken a little bit of time to practice my painting also. Give me metal and color and I am a happy woman. Enamels are a wonderful way to paint on metal. There are many techniques that artists can use to get the effect they want. The techniques I used for these two pendants are pretty fundamental, but experienced enamellists create elaborate works of art on their miniature metal canvases. Talk about eye candy! Sheridan Scott makes jewelry here in Oklahoma. Her designs are a gorgeous combination of geometric and organic shapes in gold and silver that hug beautifully sparkling gems. She is a talented and experienced metalsmith. Fortunately for the rest of us, she teaches jewelry making from beading to casting, so that we can all learn a few tricks of the trade. I had the grand pleasure of visiting her studio—a metalsmith’s delight. I love to see how other artists work. She has a research/inspiration area filled with all of her favorite books; a comfortable sitting area and TV for watching inspiring videos (she is a fan of Eleanor Roosevelt’s who I just absolutely love); along with a large working area. The working area is divided up into areas for sawing/sanding, fine tuning, beading, and in the middle an area to showcase some of her unique jewelry.
