I learned so much and met amazing artists that have made an astonishing impact in my life as an artist. The World Wide Web has also been a great way to connect artists and it reminds me of how small this world really is. Zipping through blogs, I came to find Anne Spoon's blog and of coursed loved her work. Who wouldn't; her work is phenomenal! It has a gentle mystical air that makes it so inviting and soft, but definitely strong. Similar other artists that have mastered the craft of oil painting; she is able to impart that talent and skill into still lifes, landscapes and portraits with confidence. So, I've continued to visit and a...

Mitsuno Reedy Demonstrates for EAA: Update

Well, I am so sorry that you missed it. It was a wonderful and informative demonstration by Mitsuno Reedy. Even if pastels is not your prefered medium, there was a great deal of information and tricks of the trade for portrait artists. The photos don't do the portrait nor the model justice, both are even more beautiful in real life. That is why you should have been there :). Our next demonstrator will be Bob Palmer. He will be discussing his growing mural business. I am sure you've seen some of his work around town. Mitsuno starts with a charcoal sketch. Cocks Combs by Mitsuno Reedy Sometimes I have to pinch myself to make sure that these are real opportunities that I am experiencing. For example this coming week Mitsuno Reedy will be doing a demonstration at the Edmond Arts Institute for the EAA . How lucky am I, right?! She will be sharing some of her techniques and process that she incorporates into her paintings. Her genres include still lifes, landscapes and portraits. Sh...

SARAH CAPSHAW demonstrates for EAA

Collage Painting by Sarah Capshaw Collage Painting by Sarah Capshaw Collage Paintings by Sarah Capshaw I have always admired how some people are so exceptionally able at manipulating words. Sarah Capshaw is one of those people. She manages the English language in a manner that makes everything sound so very clever and poetic. Sarah continues her unique handling of text in her mixed media artwork, combining bits of paper and found objects while playing with color in order to share with us her dreams and experiences in an aesthetic manner. The Edmond Art Association has the pleasure of hosting a demonstration by Sarah Capshaw on the techniques she employs to create her collage paintings. When: Monday, March 22 at 7:00p.m. Where: The Edmond Fine Arts Institute Cost : ONLY $2 for non-members, FREE for all members of the Edmond Art Association. Contact the EAA if you would like to join. I got hooked with a demo. This would be a great one to come to.

Linda Kukuk demonstrating for the EAA

I have been looking for a way to volunteer in the evenings. When I put out the request for volunteers for the Edmond Art Association Board, I decided I couldn’t send out requests without taking part myself. I now have the honor of announcing that I will be the president for the association for 2010. It is a wonderful organization with great opportunity for all artists. I first heard of the organization by Tim Rose (I shared some of his work in a past post) when he was doing a demonstration for EAA. The demonstration was impacted with invaluable information on oil painting techniques as he went through his painting process. This January 26th will be our first demonstration. Linda Kukuk will be demonstrating how she uses claybord (Ampersand Aqua Board) to create striking works of art. Linda is a self-taught artist with over forty years of experience working primarily in two media – watercolor on paper and scratchwork on claybord. She is inspired by her Choctaw heritage and her experience...
