Absolutely Beautiful Inspiration................... from Anna Spiro

Soft Pink Roses from Spiro , Oil on Linen 8”X10” $168 I believe I have shared with you my love for interior design. I love textiles. I am fascinated with the history of furniture styles. I enjoy seeing collections of items from different cultures make an interesting design. My favorite thing is the creative use of art to create a home. One of my favorite blogs on Interior design is Absolutely Beautiful Things. It is just that. In it Anna Spiro, a designer from Brisbane Australia, shares with us her record of inspirational items. I saw the photo below of the loveliest pink roses. I was so thrilled when Spiro allowed me to use the photo for a painting. I had great fun painting it, but I will have to try it again to show the softness that the roses have and more contrast. I hope you enjoy it and that you visit her blog. You will be inspired by all things lovely.

A Busy Weekend Painting

Hydrangeas I Oil on Canvas 6"X8" Pink Roses III Oil on Canvas 6"X8" The following paintings are tiny oil on linen canvas that I made. They are intended to be portable art-pendants. I have to get my metalsmith tools out and make some bezels for them. I can't wait. The large ones are 1 1/2" in diameter. My favorite are the miniature Oklahoma landscapes. On my easel right now... I have been working on painting a ballerina slipper for Alexis (Alexia's friend). I cannot seem to be able to darken the peaches (or any pinks on anything for that matter) without going too bright (if I add red) or too muddy if I try to darken it with other colors. If any of you have a trick or know a helpful starter fomula, I would really appreciate it if you pass along to me.

With Brushes in Hand

Pink Rose II Oil on Canvas 6"X6" This is a painting of one of my first roses of the season. I am not the best at gardening, so I am always so thrilled when something comes up. Of course, roses tend to be easy, so I capture a lot of them in paintings. When it comes to gardening, I plant whatever I like, with no thought to all the "rules" that come with gardening. Apples I Oil on Canvas 6"X6" SOLD I wanted fabric on the background, but I did not have one on hand that was subtle enough. I was inpired by a painting I saw of cherries. Apples are just as nice, I think. I wish my photos were better. I need to pratice taking pictures with my camera. I also finished these two. I haven't decided which one of these will go the Water Street Art Gallery . The rest I will put on my Etsy shop. Oh, I have to brag some more about my children. Ezri's drawing won a contest and will appear on a Child Abuse Prevention calendar. Alexia was one of the MC's for th...

There is a Little Light at the End of a Painting Session

I am so happy. This is my recent oil painting of roses. It is on an 8X10" canvas. I am absolutely nowhere near where I hope to be, but at least there are darks and somewhat lights.
