Leaves, flowers (all flowers), birds, insects and even clouds. I could stare at clouds all day. Well, my lovely family indulges me with tiny gifts that they find out on their walks. So, when I come desk, I find flowers (some of which I have planted), leaves that are changing colors, insects that lived their last day (they have to have lived their last day before they are allowed to collect them as my specimen (or props for still lifes), and more recently feathers. I have many beautiful iridescent feathers that turkeys leave behind as they walk through our backyard in the mornings...

Pomegranate , I 6"x6" Oil on Linen Queen Elizabeth's Hips Oil on Linen 4"x6" A few years ago I planted a rose bush with enormous pink roses called “Queen Elizabeth”. Aside from the name, I chose it for its luscious orangey-red rose hips which I thought would look wonderful in a painting. The rose bush is planted in front of the house where every time I passed it, I noticed this one last rose hip. It stood out among all the dark greens and browns of winter, calling me to record its existence on canvas, and so I did. I am still working on it, along with the pomegranate and a painting of red berries, but I wanted to share it with you while wishing you very happy holidays.
